I Tried Getting 75% off my Sky Package Again…

So just over a year has passed with me paying a quarter of what my original Sky TV subscription would have cost. 75% off anything is good and it makes the bitter pill of expensive subscription services like Sky a shade easier to swallow. As the discounted year drew to a close, I called Sky to cancel again, as I outlined in my original post just over a year ago, to see what they could do for me.

Sky Discount : Time Will Tell

In an attempt to reach some kind of inbox inner peace, I’ve managed to delete all of my emails from Sky regarding the cancellation this time. Thank you for understanding that I’m not giving exact timescales here. But it’s been well over the 30 day grace period where Sky thinks that you might only be teasing them with the cancellation. No emails at all. I’d hazard a guess that it’s been nearly two months if not more and I still haven’t heard a peep from Sky about being desperate to keep me as a long standing customer. Maybe times have changed with streaming services on the rise.

I can’t deny that I’m a bit miffed at this. I should be thankful. One less subscription service equals more money for fun. However, I’m a sucker for a bargain, and probably wouldn’t have been able to resist had they come back to me holding a satellite dish with a yellow “Whoops!” sticker on.

I’m not holding my breath, but I’ll be keeping an eye on my inbox for any regretful emails from Sky and I’ll be sure to keep you updated if anything appears.

Sky Discount : One Trick Pony

So in my experience so far, It seems that Sky are only willing to give you a discount on your package for a year. If you cancel again after that, you’re dead to them. Maybe a bit extreme, but It’s just something to bear in mind if you’re planning on relying on this tactic for the foreseeable future.

By all means, refer back to my original post if you’re still paying full price and want a discount. It’s not a guarantee, but it’s got to be worth a shot. You might actually wonder what you were even paying for?!

Sky Discount : What Now?

Being £39 £9.50 better off a month isn’t going to push me onto the Forbes rich list, but it’s something. Maybe I can put the cash towards Matched Betting again for a little extra income? For now though I’m happy to be making use of my Amazon Prime* membership and sharing a family Netflix package. I still have my Sky box and can make use of the majority of the free to air channels, albeit without any of the fancy features like recording. It’s not such a bad place to be in.
